I'm pretty sure this is actually a moth, but it's pretty enough to be a butterfly in my opinion. Taken outside of our cabin, yey!

:D

I'm back from my trip. Thanks for the support, everyone!

EDIT: Thanks to ~DeLesslin, who identified this as a Silver Spotted Skipper Butterfly. Thank you so much, hoo-ha!

Most butterflies aren't super hairy or fat, so I really think it's a moth. Still, it seems very butterfly-like for a moth (which are usually ugly in my opinion.) XD

My best guess is that it is actually a butterfly. I believe it is a 'Skipper Butterfly'. That would be family Hesperiidae.
The family contains multiple thousands of species. O_O
My best guess to narrow it down would be...a Grass Skipper (subfamily Hesperiinae).

From there it gets really difficult! There are 7 tribes (the level of classification right above genus)...and then there are 279 more genera that haven't even been put into a tribe yet!

I was thinking this was as close as I could identify, but by a pure stroke of luck...I FOUND IT! MUAHAHA

I am about 75% sure that it is the Silver Spotted Skipper Butterfly (Epargyreus clarus). The little caterpillars look weird too! Google it :-)

I like your photo alot too. I think you caught the gold highlights in the wing very very well.
Awesome!

Oops...I mean Epargyreus clarus

Wow, that's amazing! It looks exactly like a Silver Spotted Skipper Butterfly. I just googled it, and (since I did it see it in person) I definitely think that's it. Everyone said it was a moth, but I guess it really was a Butterfly in Disguise. ;)

I'm going to be posting a picture of a strange creature which I think is a bee fly (basically looks like a bee with a proboscis) that no one could identify. Stay tuned for that! :D

*is excited*
I am working on that dragonfly...but it is hard... :-(
:iconlamarble:
Yeah, I love that dragonfly picture, I really want to make a gallery of awesome photos taken on youth group trips or something. That dragonfly was found by a freshwater lake in the mountains, if that helps any. :XD:

yea, I agree
